LightScalpel® is a CO2 laser that precisely and gently treats soft tissues. It eliminates the need for traditional dental tools like scalpels or scissors, thus reducing bleeding, anxiety and discomfort for children.
At Bird Pediatric Dentistry, the LightScalpel® soft tissue laser is used most frequently to do frenectomies. A frenectomy is a minor surgical procedure that removes or modifies the frenum, a small fold of tissue that restricts the movement of the tongue (tongue-tie) or lips (lip-tie).
