What is Orthodontics and why Bird Orthodontics?
Dr. Bird is a specialist who has completed two years of additional training to become an orthodontist. She completed this training following her pediatric dental training. This rare dual-specialty training allows Dr. Bird to easily intercept potential orthodontic problems in young children, as well as treat exisiting malocclusions or "bad bites".
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children get a check-up by an orthodontist by age 7. Although an orthodontist can enhance a smile at any age, there is usually a best age to begin treatment which will ensure the best result with patient cooperation and the amount of improvement that can be achieved. In addition, surgery of the jaws can sometimes be averted if orthodontics is started at a young age. By seeing Dr. Bird early for regular Orthodontic check-ups, she will watch your child grow and make appropriate orthodontic recommendations.
What to expect at your first Orthodontic Evaluation:
At this first appointment, Dr. Bird will perform a thorough oral examination. Depending on the age of the patient and the proximity of being ready to start treatment, a variety of orthodontic records may be taken which consist of:
 |
 |
| Digital x-rays |
Photographs |
Once Dr. Bird has analyzed the orthodontic records, she will discuss her clinical diagnosis, recommendations and options for the best course of Orthodontic treatment.
Our Orthodontic Treatment Coordinator will then discuss the recommended Orthodontic treatment in depth including the length of treatment, steps involved, cost and payment options. Various payment options are available such as in-house financing upon approval with 0% interest and financing through CareCredit®

What to expect the day you get braces:
Indirect bonding is a unique bonding technique that Dr. Bird has mastered. It allows for Dr. Bird to have a high degree of accuracy when placing brackets. The brackets are pre-placed by hand in trays that are fabricated of the patient's mouth prior to the orthodontic start appointment. On the day a patient comes to get braces, their prepared trays are placed in the mouth and the brackets are carefully bonded. This meticulous technique saves the patient time in the chair and results in more accurate bracket placement.

Bird Orthodontic Rewards Program

Bird Orthodontics offers an interactive program designed to reward patients for their excellent cooperation. Face it…. Life in braces takes more work and we want to reward patients for a job well done. Our dental assistants will give patients a card the day they get their braces.
