For many kids in Charlotte, braces are a fun way to develop their oral health and hygiene as they get older. Bird Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics is pleased to offer a variety of kid-centered services that ensure children get the most out of their dental visits. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children get a check-up by an orthodontist by age seven. What is Orthodontics and why Bird Orthodontics?
Orthodontics is a subspecialty of dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of dental and facial irregularities. The technical term for these problems is "malocclusion", which means "bad or abnormal bite".
Dr. Bird is a specialist who has completed two years of additional training in the recognition and treatment of dental and skeletal malocclusions. She completed this training following her pediatric dental training. This rare dual-specialty training allows Dr. Bird to easily intercept potential orthodontic problems as well as treat existing malocclusions.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that all children get a check-up by an orthodontist by age 7. Although an orthodontist can enhance a smile at any age, there is usually a best age to begin treatment which will ensure the best result with patient cooperation and the amount of improvement that can be achieved. In addition, surgery of the jaws can sometimes be averted if orthodontics is started at a young age. By seeing Dr. Bird early for regular Orthodontic check-ups, she will watch your child grow and make appropriate orthodontic recommendations.
What to expect at your first visit:
At your first appointment, Orthodontic records will be taken which consist of:

Patient of the Month
Allie made this animation during computer camp and was kind enough to share with us. She just so happened to be wearing her Bird-shirt, so she immediately decided to make a project for all of us to enjoy. We are sooooo impressed and thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you Alli.... what a ROCK STAR patient!
We are proud to present our latest and greatest patients of the month: Brianna-Nicole (age 6) and Jalyn (age 9). Both sisters attended their routine cleanings wearing stunning purple dresses. When they went on to explain why they love coming to see Dr. Bird we could not help but ask if they would consider being our new patients of the month. A beautiful photograph of these adorable sisters in their purple dresses is proudly displayed in our “Patient of the Month” frame in our reception. Watch the featured video clip to meet Brianna-Nicole and Jalyn and learn more about why they like coming to see Dr. Bird.
