Meet Dr. Bird and Associates

Dr. Suzanne Bird

Dr. Bird is one of a handful of dentists in the United States who is both an orthodontist and a pediatric dentist. She specializes in doing orthodontics on children of all ages. She closely follows children's facial growth and space needed for permanent teeth. She often can guide her patients' growth and development by starting orthodontic treatment at an early age if needed.

Dr. Bird graduated with Honors from the UNC School of Dentistry. She obtained a master's degree in pediatric dentistry from The Ohio State University and Columbus Children's Hospital. She completed her education by obtaining a Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics from the University of Missouri in Kansas City.

Dr. Bird is board certified in Pediatric Dentistry.

In her spare time, Dr. Bird enjoys traveling to tropical destinations with her husband, Jake, and two step children, Emily and Jacob. She has a huge soft spot in her heart for four-legged furry friends.

Dr. Ann Kennedy

As a pediatric dentist, Dr. Kennedy specializes in treating infants, children, adolescents, and individuals with special healthcare needs. Her passion is making the dental experience fun and inviting for children as well as teaching them that going to the dentist can be easy!

Dr. Kennedy attended the UNC School of Dentistry after graduating magna cum laude from Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC. While at UNC, she sought out every opportunity to work with children, including participating in a number of rotations in pediatric dental clinics in rural NC. She completed her residency in pediatric dentistry at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, which is often ranked as one of the top children's hospitals in the US. Since completing residency, Dr. Kennedy has practiced as pediatric dentist in public health.

Dr. Kennedy grew up in Greensboro, NC and is excited to be exploring her new home-city of Charlotte. Outside the office, you will find her cooking, exercising, seeing as many movies as possible, and spending time with family.

  


Dr. Kelly Lipp

Dr. Kelly Lipp is a pediatric dentist and is very excited to be a member of the Bird Pediatric Dentistry Team! Like Dr. Bird, Dr. Lipp graduated from the UNC School of Dentistry with Honors. Upon graduation from dental school, she earned the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Certificate of Merit.

Dr. Lipp also followed in Dr. Bird’s footsteps by completing her pediatric specialty training at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She has a master’s degree in Dental Science and wrote her master’s thesis on pediatric patient comfort following dental treatment - she is committed to making sure her patients are comfortable during and after their visit to the dental office!

Dr. Lipp is passionate about treating children and loves meeting new faces every day! Outside of work, she enjoys hiking and traveling with her long-time boyfriend (who is also a dentist!). Together, they have an adorable Goldendoodle named Teddy.

 


Dr. Charles Cangemi, Jr.

Dr. Cangemi has provided anesthesiology services for many Pediatric Dentists, General Dentists, Oral Surgeons and other Dental Specialists for a wide variety of surgical procedures. Dr. Cangemi was the first mobile practicing Dentist-Anesthesiologist in the state of North Carolina.

Dr. Cangemi completed dental school at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. He then completed a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. While in private practice he completed his certification in intravenous sedation. He completed an anesthesiology residency and a Masters Program in anesthesiology at Ohio State University. This comprehensive hospital-based program provided training in all areas of medical anesthesiology.

Dr. Cangemi is an active member of the following organizations:

  • North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners

Dr. Cangemi publishes and lectures on numerous topics in Anesthesiology. He is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support.

Dr. Cangemi enjoys boating, classic automobiles, model railroading, Apple computers, electronics and landscaping projects with his son-in-law Bryan. As an avid animal lover, he contributes to a wide variety of charities including those benefiting animals, and rescues both dogs and cats. He resides in Mooresville with his wife and their six dogs and two cats. They have one daughter, one granddaughter and one grandson.
